My forever baby

I've always thought that my little girl is still like a baby and is not ready for a lot of things. However, recently I realized that I am the one who is not ready at all. Seeing her everyday, I did not notice how tall she had grown, how much she had developed. Suddenly she do not need me to put on her shoes for her, do not need me to change her diaper. She starts to talk back at me, throwing my words back at me. She is longer baby, she is a child.

Sometimes after I scolded her, she'll say, "Mummy, I don't like you anymore." Though she don't really mean it, I still feel a little sad to hear that. Soon she will really not need anymore. Her friends will hold a higher priority in her heart. Soon her own family will be all that she thinks about. My own parents went through this. I'm going to miss the baby her when that happens.

Still I want to give the best to her. She is my baby, forever.

My Lil Ariel has grown up and getting married!

nah... I'm exaggerating. but she is really growing at a very fast rate until I having some hard time adjusting to it. at the same time I am proud of her. As a very lazy mummy, I had been procrastinating to a point of don't-intend-to toilet-train her and teach her to wear her own shoes.

Few months ago, when I was helping her to wear her shoes, she suddenly told me she wanted to do it all by herself. I was like, oh.. okay. she put the shoe one the wrong leg, so I told her that it is the wrong one. she changed it to the other leg and she wore the shoes all by herself! I did not teach her!

Then when I wanted to wear her pants/skirts, she insisted to do it all by herself.

just last week, she suddenly told me she don't want to wear diapee (her way of saying diaper) anymore. I had my reservations about that, but she insisted. So I gave it a try, she managed to stay diapee-less for 1/2 day without accident. Then 2 nights ago, she told me she don't want to wear it to sleep and she really did it. she did not wake up to go toilet too!! still keeping my fingers crossed.

I love my gal!! I thank God for her.

Ariel has started her potty-training... finally

I had wanted to start putting her on potty quite some time ago, but by the time I placed her on the potty, she had pee-ed in her diaper. last week, she suddenly told me she wanted to pee in the potty. as usual I thought there would be no output. I WAS WRONG! she really pee-ed. I was so happy. then the second time she told me she wanted to do it was at night. being a lazy Mummy, I told her that she can pee in her diaper (I was lazy to carry her to the toilet when I was nua-ing on the bed). however, she insisted on going to the toilet. I guess when she see her classmates do that in school, she wanted to follow as well.

anyway, I found myself screaming at Lil Ariel very often, even at little mistakes. a lot of things I my mind which I cannot get definite answers. then poor Lil Ariel get it from me. I must keep reminding myself not to do that again.

Naive Ariel

Lil Ariel had been quite afraid of the dark recently. she was not like this last time. so my MIL tried to assure her that she don't have to be afraid, cuz we are with her. she also added that Lil Ariel's guardian angel is watching behind her. Lil Ariel quickly turned and look behind, asking "Where?" -_-

Mummy's new toes

Lil Ariel saw my newly-painted toenails and said this, "Mummy wash wash. Mummy's toes drop. Cherry sweep sweep. Mummy bought new ones." -_- it really sound gross that my toes dropped.

Innocent Ariel

Lil Ariel and I were watching Peter Pan Part 2. suddenly I heard my little darling sobbing when we were at the part where Tinkerbell was losing her life because Jane did not believe in her. my expression was like this -> :O . her sob then turned to a loud wail, so I quickly hugged her and assured her that Tinkerbell will be okay after Jane decided to believe in her.

children are so innocent and truthful about their feelings. they cry when they are sad. they laugh and jump around when they are happy. they throw things and scream when they are angry and frustrated. how I wish I could be like her.

Appleland

Mummy: Can Mummy go Appleland with you?
Lil Ariel: No!
Mummy: Why?
Lil Ariel: Mummy too big. Mummy not baby.
Mummy: Mdm Tan and teacher Alice are not babies, why they can go Appleland?
Lil Ariel: they are teachers.

at the entrance of Appleland, Lil Ariel saw one daddy bringing his daughter there. Lil Ariel asked the little girl, "Where is your Mummy?" -_-

Mummy: Ariel, do you want Mummy to bring you to Disneyland?
Lil Ariel: No, Ariel want go Appleland.
Mummy: ...

on a Saturday morning...
Lil Ariel: Mummy, Ariel want go Appleland
Mummy: Darling, Appleland is closed today.
Lil Ariel: Mdm Tan ah choo ah choo, teacher Alice cough cough. Appleland close.
Mummy: yes Ariel...

Humpty Dumpty

Lil Ariel: Mummy, tsing Umpdy Dumpdy bor Aiel. (Mummy, sing Humpty Dumpty for Ariel.)
Mummy Celeste: sing Humpty Dumpty.
Lil Ariel: hu push Umpdy Dumpdy? (who push Humpty Dumpty?)
Mummy Celeste: hmmm... not sure. who push?
Lil Ariel: meh-bem-tan (Madam Tan -> her favourite teacher in school)
Mummy Celeste: oh, why did Madam Tan push Humpty Dumpty?
Lil Ariel: (chuckle) no, is chi-cher Alice (no, is Teacher Alice)

my Lil Ariel is back

Lil Ariel is back to her cheeky self le!!! thanks for all the well wishes. :) but her Mummy lost her voice. she got a very husky voice now mwhaha...

anyway, I got a package from Mr Postman. it contains the labels that I bought from Stuck on You 2 weeks ago. I can choose the fonts, the back colour and picture that Lil Ariel (actually is me) wants. now I can put her name on all her properties.

this bugger keep taking away her bottles when I tried to take the picture. so I got her involved by asking her to hold the bottle for me while I take. whahaha

while I was sorting the pictures from my camera, I found this! it was taken some weeks back. Lil Ariel insisted on wearing Daddy Sam's t-shirt. yeah, this is one of those nonsense that she will perform before she sleeps.

last night I asked her to help me choose a t-shirt for me to change into. she chose a purple one. then she insisted to change to a purple one for herself, to match mine. isn't she sweet??!!

oh yah, I promised Honey Kris that I will show her the birthday pressie she gave Lil Ariel. Lil Ariel loves it! :D

that day my MIL told me this; when they were digging the pile of Lil Ariel's clothes, they found the bikini I bought for her eons ago. so Lil Ariel said she wants to wear that. my MIL then told her that she can wear when Mummy brings her for swimming. Lil Ariel replied, "Wear bra for swimming." -_-

Tired Weekend

my poor girl was soooo sick. I so totally missed her mischief, her running around and her babbling non-stop. last Friday my MIL called me during lunch to ask if I could go back earlier. we got this 1 hour Eat-With-Your-Family time-off, which means I can go off at 4pm. it's a bit wasteful to take 1/2 day when it was just a few more hours to go. so after a meeting about a crisis that happened at work, I rushed off home to see my Lil Ariel. I was so worried that I could not bother to answer the cabbie when he tried to strike a conversation.

I was told that she did not eat much, but she wanted her ABC pasta. my MIL could not cook for her cuz Lil Ariel clinged onto her, and that Cherry still don't know how to cook it (I've showed her umpteen times.. arghh...) so I dropped my bag and cooked for her. she ate a little, at least something lah.

when Daddy Sam came back, we discussed and decided to bring her to NUH. her fever hovered around 39 to 39.5. she was happy that we brought her out of the house. however her happiness turned to despair when she saw the entrance. after the hoo-haa, we finally collected her medicine at the pharmacy and left for home. the ang-moh doctor told us that we gotta bring her back for blood tests if her fever still don't subside by Sunday. (thank God that we don't have to do that.)

so the whole weekend we stayed home most of time. we did bring her out for a spin when she got too cranky. she refused to let anyone else carry except me (YEAH!! she finally didn't insist her grandma to carry). she refused to let me to be out of her sight. when I took my hand away from her shoulder while sitting down, she protested. I'm still her favorite person after all!! but it is painful to see her like this. coughing her lungs out with her blocked nose, fever up and down. I told God to let me suffer on her behalf. I really wanted the uber active Lil Ariel who cannot sit still for 5 minutes back.

anyway I've watched Finding Nemo for 3 to 4 times in 2 days. I think I can memorize all the scenes. we watched so much that Lil Ariel mumbled "Nemo, nemo, neemo, nemooo. I want Nemo..." in her sleep, while Daddy Sam and I were watching last night's Harper's Island. she is just sooo cute lah!!

actually I took a picture of her seh-seh look. I wanted to upload it today, so I actually brought the camera. BUT Daddy Sam took the bag that contained the memory card reader, so I can only upload tomorrow.

do help to pray for my Lil Ariel's speedy recovery okay? my heart really hurts seeing her like this. :(

** my poor sick sick Lil Ariel.

Zombie Mummy

yesterday I thought to myself, "yeah! finally it's Friday tomorrow!!" but alas, in the wee hours of the morning, I heard Lil Ariel groaning and whining in her sleep. not sure how long it lasted (you know, when you are in a half-conscious state, you can't really estimate the duration accurately) until I finally did something. so I put my hand over her body with my eyes closed. when my hand reached the forehead, my eyes sprung opened. her forehead felt warm, really warm!! I was hoping that it's because my palm was cold due to the cold air (this is quite unlikely though).

I searched for the thermometer in the dark. when I realised that my eyes are not those of an owl, I borrowed the light from my handphone. I finally found it chucked beside a stack of papers/brochures/magazines/letters/bills. her temperature was 38.8. that is high!! I quickly woke Daddy Sam, who was still sleeping like a log throughout, up. he suggested giving her panadol, which I would have thought of if I was given more time.

I came back from the kitchen with 2ml of panadol in a syringe and one Pigeon cool pack. Lil Ariel was already half-woken up by Daddy Sam, so I shot the panadol into her mouth. I knew she wouldn't want to cool pack. so when she was lying beside me, I pasted it cool pack on her forehead. she protested, but I refused to remove my hand from her forehead. I guess she was too sleepy to continue the protest after a while.

so from 4am, I did not really sleep, checking her every now and then. that explains why am I a zombie today. hopefully her fever will go away. she just recovered from her cough and cold last week. haiz...

端午节

Lil Ariel's school is really sweet. they gave each kid a bah chang that the teachers made yesterday. when Teacher Alice gave the bah chang to my MIL, Lil Ariel told her "no need." then Teacher Alice said is for Mummy. she thought for a while, and accepted the bah chang. so this bah chang will be my breakfast for today!!

Yabado, Ichi Sa(Ya) and Gorjilla

these are the imaginary scary creatures that I came up with to prevent her from wanting to back to the living room when it is night-time. in a desperate attempt confine her in the bedroom one night, I blurted something like this, "you better not go to the living room cuz Yabado is just outside." she gave a blank look. so I told her it is something very scary. she stopped wanting to go out. this is actually not a good way as it will slowly diminish her sense of security. as days go by, she'll lose her confidence and self-worth. so I told myself I won't use that anymore.

BUT sometimes when you realise by doing or saying something that will let you achieve what you wanted, you will keep doing it. so when Lil Ariel refused to let Daddy Sam leave the room at night (if Daddy Sam is around, they will be playing instead of sleeping), I used the excuse that "Daddy needs to fight Yabado".

few nights ago, Lil Ariel had a bad dream and woke up crying. when she saw Daddy Sam beside her, she commanded him to go out and "fight Yabado". she probaby dreamt of Yabado - I wonder how it looks like in her dream. poor Daddy Sam had to hide under the blanket and I hugged Lil Ariel to sleep. when Yabado don't do the trick, Gorjilla (evolved from Godzilla) and Ichi Sa(sometimes become Ichi Ya when I forgotten is Sa) will step in to help. it is a bad habit to kick, I will try not to use that again. but I know I will still use it during desperate moments when she wants to go to the living room and look for her grandma. -_-

Friday, May 22, 2009

hello!! the lack of posts is due to the Mummy Celeste being
1) busy
2) lack of enthusiasm
3) stress (from everywhere)
4) lack of the necessary equipment
5) other 1001 reasons

Lil Ariel already showed her TERRIBLE TWO symptoms, e.g. insisting of getting what she want (at home and outside). even using other incentives to distract her did not help. it is so bad that even her ever-doting Daddy Sam lost his cool to yell at her a few times. when we're outside, she insisted running around in the crowded Marina Sq. she will just sat on the floor and cried, when we disallowed her. Mummy Celeste is an advocate of no-means-no logic, so Lil Ariel has never gotten her way most of the times.

after that, Mummy Celeste will try to reason out with her. she seemed to understand. an example of the conversation goes like this...

Mummy Celeste: do you know why was Mummy angry with you?
Lil Ariel: (nods her head) cos Aiel dole wan o ands. (translation: cuz Ariel dont want to hold hands.)
Mummy Celeste: yes, there are a lot of people. what if they knock onto you?
Lil Ariel: Aiel balls down. (translation: Ariel falls down.)
Mummy Celeste: that's right darling. Ariel falls down, how? (<- yeah this is a very bad English sentence structure.)
Lil Ariel: Aiel cry. (translation: Ariel cries)
Mummy Celeste: so what must you say?
Lil Ariel: tolly Mummy, tolly Daddy. (translation: sorry Mummy, sorry Daddy.)

anyway that day I asked her to pose for the camera..

is she aspiring to become a model?

haha... just to show off some dishes/bentos I made for her the past few weeks.

bought these Disney pasta from Da Paolo Gastronomia gourmet shop at Great World City. They have Mickey Mouse family and the Pooh family, colourful types and the plain types. Lil Ariel, to my (double) surprise, chose the plain Mickey Mouse one. I thought she will choose the colourful Pooh one.

finally got a chance to use the star-shaped rice mold.

shell pasta in tomato sauce. Lil Ariel don't quite like dry pasta. she prefers the soupy kind.

I spent nearly 20 minutes on the flowers and the unappreciative girl just dug out the hotdog and left the egg petals aside. in order not to let my effort gone to a waste, I ate them up.

she finished ALL of these. yay!!!

Ariel is 2 years old!

same as last year, we did not have a big bash. the reason being a lot of effort (and money) will be spent and yet she will not remember a thing. Daddy Sam and I decided that we will give her a bash next year consolidating the 1st and 2nd year.

however I did pack some goodie packs for her classmates on Friday. they sang Happy Birthday song to her. I think word Happy Birthday got inscribed onto her brain that when I reached home, she said Happy Birthday to me. -_-

although there wasn't any bash, we had a small family celebration on Sunday. we bought a real small mango cake from Bakerzin and her Mama made mee sua with eggs for her.

this is the real small cake

but she is still happy with the real small cake

waiting eagerly to chomp on the cake, which she did not finish eventually

if only she will open her mouth as big as this during her other meals...

she is getting really talkative nowadays. she will chatter non-stop even if we ignore her. 1/2 of the time we had to make her repeat so that we can catch what she wanted to say. and this girl is really patient enough to repeat until we finally catch it. however, there were a few times I'll just go, "Oh... I see..." when it is really impossible to decipher.

Bento #6 and Bento #7

did these quite some time ago. now then upload. whaha...

Lil Ariel's school gave the kids 2 easter each. they were placed inside this Bunny bag for them to bring home. her teacher said she coloured the bunny green. just a few strokes of green.

MIL said when she came home, she wolfed down the 2 easter quail eggs. so when I took the picture, the eggs were being digested.

Ariel is a filial daughter

Daddy Sam and I had a very minor argument on Saturday which left me feeling sad.

when Lil Ariel saw me on the verge on tearing, she frowned and said "Mummy, no..."

after that she hugged my head and said, "Ariel protect Mummy."

my heart melted at the very moment and I realised that all the sacrifices I made for are not sacrifices anymore.

I LOVE my little girl!!!

Ariel had joined a playgroup!

Lil Ariel supposed to start her 1/2 day playgroup last Monday. however, she still had not recovered from her flu, so I postponed to this week. we had been telling her about going to school and meeting new friends. she was pretty excited about it.

so I took leave on Monday to Wednesday, cuz the principal said I could stay with her throughout for the first 3 days. on the first day, she happily joined the kids and occasionally looked for us. she was curious about the place and would wander to other corners to check them out. there were some children doing their homework there, she also went to peek into their pencil cases. she even asked for more 2 more servings during lunch.

on the second day, she was chanting 'Ariel go Appleland' after her breakfast. my MIL decided to go to the market instead of joining us. Lil Ariel happily followed the teacher to look for other kids when we reached there. I stayed there for a while and decided to "disappear". she did not look for me. when I finally appear during her lunch, she just smiled at me. the teachers were telling she is a good girl.

so I decided to cancel my leave for the third day. my MIL told me that she was a bit clingy when she saw that the breakfast served was chee cheong fun. then the teacher asked her if she wants to look for Isaac, she followed. however my MIL realised she seemed very hungry when she brought her back. hmmm...

anyway, when my MIL asked her if she wants Ali Baba or Isaac. she said Isaac. '''-_-

Bento #4 and Bento #5

Friday I went to Daiso (Vivocity) after work, hoping to get some bento accessories. once I was there, I zoomed to the kitchenware section and got all of these!! at $2 each!! Lil Ariel was equally excited when she saw all these. she made me open all of them up for her to play. '''-_-

this is her Saturday bento breakfast... I tried to make a star egg using the one of the new egg molds. it ended up looking like a flower. when I put the egg inside, there were still some more space. the egg is tad small for it. mwhaha...

her Sunday bento breakfast... the 2 objects below the eggs are actually pizza made of bread, cheese and ham. this girl really dislikes bread. she dug out the hams and left the bread alone. they ended up in my mouth.

anyway, we brought Lil Ariel to West Coast Park for lunch on Saturday. after that headed to the children playground there.

she was a bit lost and thinking what to play...

then she decided to play with the wheel inside the shade... btw, she hates the sun. she will frown and act as if the sun rays are hurting her badly.

Bento #3

my MIL told me that Lil Ariel will be very excited to see what's inside her bento box every morning (okay, just these 2 mornings so far). she cannot wait to open it up. I feel so happy just by hearing that. actually I should have realised that earlier. whenever I take out her thermal food container during lunch when we are outside, she is always very eager to open it up. she is indeed one curious baby.

Kris knew that I'm into this hobby now, she volunteered to lend me the Hello Kitty and My Melody egg mold she bought sometime ago. however the instructions on the box were in Japanese, so we could not understand what it says at all. so I asked Mr Google and he taught me how to do it.

I had to put the de-shelled hard-boiled egg into mold straight after I take out from the pot. meaning, it is so freaking hot! then lock the mold and put it into the fridge straight away for 5 min. being a tad kiasu, I left it inside for 10 min. haa... then I proceed to cut the apples, cheese and arrange her bento box. anyway when I took out the egg from the mold (I used the Hello Kitty one today), and found out that the Hello Kitty I made got NO EARS!! *gasp* haha... poor kitty, maybe she prefer to hear no evil? blame the picture that is printed on the box. I think I will try putting the egg the other way round next time.

Bento #2

yesterday I went to Taka to see if I can get any acessories and guess what I found? the moulds for Pooh, Piglet, Mickey, Minnie, Miffy and Miffy's bear!!

so I used the Pooh's mould for her cheese and bread today. they look abit plain though. I wanted to use Nutella to fill out the eyes and nose. but I was running out of time!! I think I gotta wake up another 10 min earlier.

I'm looking for those nori (seaweed) cutters so that my egg figures don't look so scary. however it seems that they are very very rare in SG and I heard that even Daiso does not have it too. where can I find them? I guess I gotta go eBay again!!

Bento #1

yeah, my latest hobby; making bentos for my Lil Ariel. firstly, they are so cute. secondly, I'm actually hoping the nicely arranged bentos will trigger her appetite. yesterday I dragged Ling and Wang to Kitty Palace at Novena Sq to look for bento box. I found 2 that I like, but settled on the cheaper one. I'm still hoping for a kind soul to contribute the other one.

when I showed her the bento box at home, she was very happy. she wow-ed when taking it out the box from the plastic bag and even said "Thank you Mummy". that makes my $17.95 worth it.

anyway this morning, I woke up 20 min earlier than usual to prepare. boiled the quail egg while I showered. the happy face on one half of the egg was cut the night before (I mean the seaweed). however, I found one eye missing this morning. so gotta cut another one and since I'm cutting another eye, might as well cut one more face right? so there is the angry face. I told Daddy Sam that the happy face is me and the angry face is him because he is always so grouchy in the morning. hoho...

btw, my MIL just messaged me that she ate the egg, milo balls, 1/2 of the plum and pulled out 1 piece of cheese. well, at least she ate the one with the most effort put in.

Going Sentosa via cable car

after 2 weeks of staying at home on Saturday, Daddy decided to bring us to Sentosa... again... this time we are taking the cable car!!

initially we wanted to take from Mt Faber, so that we can stay longer in the cable car. we could not find a parking lot (though after that all of us realised there's a carpark at Jewel Box), so we ended up going to Harbour Front. over there, we realised the trip will include going to Mt Faber first then to Sentoso. Woohoo...

Mummy legs were turning jelly, cuz Daddy chose the full glass cabin.

me looking bored

me looking very bored...

i'm really bored... yawnz...

when will we reach Sentosa??
