Hard Time Getting to Sleep

I was having a hard time to get to sleep. can't seem to get the right position. books have mentioned that pregnant women should sleep on the left side. sleeping on the left side supposed to help the absorption of nutrients by the baby. other than not being used to sleeping on the left side, the weight of the baby seems to shift to whichever side I sleep on. leaving me feeling uncomfortable. sleeping face up is no-no as the weight of the womb will press on my intestines and 2 of the major arteries. so I bought this wedge pillow from one of the maternity shops at United Square during lunch. it's purpose is to support my tummy. I was thinking what if I turn over to the other side, do I need to wake up and bring the pillow over also??

I've finally convinced dear hubby that my weight gain is normal. I've gained 4 kg so far and based on books that I have read, I need to gain another 8 kg. I'm already into my 22nd weeks, which means 18 more weeks to gain the 8kg. that will means I need to gain 400g every week. my weight gain between my visits to Dr See Toh's clinic (once every 3 weeks) is around 1 kg, this is normal! cuz 3 x 400g = 1.2kg.

Ariel's Xmas present

Ariel's Check-up

Ariel's weighing 473g at week 22. and I've gained another 1 kg! I've gained 4 kg since I got pregnant. hopefully can gain a little more. Ariel was more cooperative yesterday at See Toh's clinic. she let us see most of her this time round. she was sucking her little thumb. Dr See Toh said that she's healthy. so happy to hear that.

after that, went to the Avent office with the Koh family. luckily Sabina was there to help to choose the necessities. if not, Ariel's blur parent will be quite lost and will ended buying a lot of redundant stuff for her, and missing out the important stuff. finally we settled a new-born starter set, a sterilizer set (comes with more bottles and teats), a manual pump that comes with 2 bottles, VIA cups and some soothers (insisted by her silly dad). helped little Jordan to get some milk bottles too. The total bill is $328.xx.

little Germaine has made friend with little Ariel too. she kept touching my tummy. :P

Merry Christmas

Ariel wants to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

brought little Ariel for the 8pm mass at St Theresa's Church last night. the church was packed with people. we reached there quite early so we got a seat. sam was saying that he could not figure out what the choir was singing though. in any case, I enjoyed myself. Ariel enjoyed herself too. she kept on kicking me on the way there.

Ariel (inside mummy's tummy) with her daddy and mummy at the church :D

went shopping at Marina on Saturday. guess what?? we bought more clothes for little Ariel. think we ought to control ourselves. later we had dinner at Changing Appetites with Sabina, Jeffery and little Germaine. little Germaine is able to walk with her mummy holding on to her!!

anyway, sam is complaining again; that the floor in the house is full hair. yeah, the scv set-up box is spoilt. we could not on it even after checking all the cables and power cords are plugged in. his laptop's motherboard crashed too. he can't play his game. so he got no choice but to do housework. :D

tomorrow will be going down to See Toh's clinic for check up. YEAH!! hopefully this time little Ariel will be more cooperative and let us see more of her. maybe I should start telling her that now. she's quite a rebellious girl.

Some Pictures

Ariel's baby cot. "nicely" wrapped by her daddy.

Ariel's car seat. Still wrapped up.

gift from her daddy. whole set of baby's wear from MotherCare.

a cute pair of booties from auntie Sheila.

apron/halter-neck suit?? from auntie Kris.

Raining...

the monsoon season is back. weather is cold and wet. little Ariel is getting active everyday. that day her dad was talking to her through my tummy when she gave me a kick. she must be asking her dad to shut up.

the cot and car seat were delivered on Saturday. we were so excited about it. we placed the cot next to our bed. however we wrapped the top part with plastic sheets. our place can get dusty quite easily. we did the first round of washing of her clothes. i felt so 'xing fu' when i was folding her tiny little clothes last night.

when i came to office this morning, Sheila told me that she got something for Ariel. during lunch, Kris passed me a present for Ariel too. see Ariel, so many aunties love you. you must be good and healthy.

Feeling Little Ariel's movement

Ariel is finally 5 months old in my womb. 4 more months later, she'll be out to meet the beautiful world. so excited. can't wait to meet her.

i can feel that she is moving a lot in the womb lately. the feeling is quite amazing but i do not know how to describe it. a friend mentioned that she may be tying ribbons with the umbilical cord. cannot imagine her doing that cos her fingers are still so small!!

we had placed orders for her cot and car seat over the weekend from baby hypermart, and also bought more clothes for her. (yeah, i know it is still a bit early). i do not want to beat the crowd and squeeze with people when my tummy gets bigger. i had been eyeing the cot that we bought for quite sometime. it has 4 adjustable levels and can be converted to a toddler bed. the original price was S$299 (include the bedding set and some toys). we did not want the toys, so the sales person said will deduct S$20 if we do not want the toys. however we upgraded the bedding set to cotton type, which will need a top-up of 30 bucks. in the end, the salesperson still charge us for S$299. quite nice of her. she also gave us discount for the car seat!

i have been reading stories to little Ariel every other night (at the same time to her father.. duhz). i bought a storybook some time ago which is a compilation of stories of the disney princesses. i am going to finish all the stories soon, have to start all over again. hopefully she will not get bored though. other than reading stories, i have been singing nursery rhymes. this is what they call "tai jiao", translated as "womb teaching". however i only know Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Ba Ba Black Sheep. so she can only listen to these 2. hubby has also been playing instrumental music CD every morning/night. the first few times when the music is played, i can feel her movements. nowadays i think she got bored with them.

now everyday when i open my wardrobe to take my clothes out, i will admire her little clothes. they are just so cute. everything is so small. really wonder how she'll look like.

Introducing Ariel

this is the very first post. decided to blog our experience as a first-time parent after 18 weeks. yes!! today mark the 18th week of our little blessing.

these 18 weeks have been full of ups and downs, with the morning sickness and loss of appetite during the first trimester. appetite getting slightly better during the second trimester, at least i can keep the food down. tummy has started to show, tho some of the colleagues still think i look fat rather than pregnant. my hubby has taken over most of the cooking during dinner, cuz he didn't want me to stand too long. (aww... so shweet....)

our gynae has more or less confirmed that bb is a gal!! so we too have started to refer her as "she" instead of "it", and her name will be Ariel!

18 weeks ago when we found out that i was pregnant, we were quite lost. we are not sure if we are ready to be parents, whether we have the capabilities to raise children financially (we just got married this year and had spent a bomb on the wedding and honeymoon) etc. lots of questions raced through our minds. in the end, we decided that it is a blessing from God. we have read about couples trying very hard to have a child and here we are having one so soon, is it not a blessing? after seeing the baby through the first ultrascan, we fell in love with her immediately and still loving her more and more everyday.

hopefully i can start feeling some obvious movements in a few weeks time!!
