Names...

actually this thing happened some time ago, but I'm still thinking about and still feeling 不爽 about it. so I decided to blog about it to get it out of my chest.

I have this colleague of mine who keep calling my name wrongly. AND IT'S LIKE EVERY TIME, EVEN AFTER I CORRECTED HER!!!

my dialect name is Cheng Wan (pronounced as "ching one"). this colleague, call her O. the first time O called me 'chen wan', interpretation, orange bowl in Chinese. I told her politely that my name is not that. the next day she came back calling me that again. arghhh... that was like more than a year ago, even before I was pregnant with Lil Darling lor. I gave up correcting her after 5 or 6 failed attempts. probably she's getting more and more irritating (in other ways) recently that I cannot stand her calling my name wrongly. I decided that since that is MY name, I've got the right to have MY name pronounced correctly.

so few days ago, O called me wrongly again, I corrected. fine, she said the correct one. the next day she called the wrong one again. which part of 'my name is not chen wan. please call me cheng wan.' that she don't understand??? then she still can say, 'but that is your Chinese name.' WHEN DID I EVER SAY MY CHINESE NAME IS ORANGE BOWL!!?? then I retorted in a rather pissed tone, 'no, my Chinese name is not that, it's Jingyun by the way'. she replied, 'oh, that is so different.' argghhh.. I decided that I don't want to spend anymore effort to explain to her that it's a direct translation from Cantonese. I've also made up my mind that if she call me wrongly the next time, I'm going to ignore her, cuz she is not calling me.

folks, name is a very personal thing to any person. it represents that person. so please make an effort to remember the person's name and call it correctly, the way the person wanted it to be called. that is respect.

Happy Birth Day to ME!!!

yeah!! I'm ONE year old now!! I've graduated from baby to toddler.

thank u and a BIG kiss too all the aunties and uncles for the lovely prezzies. I LOVE them very much. will have to wait for Mummy to ask Ivy to wash before I can wear tho. (as usual, Mummy still has not download the photos out to be uploaded here. haiz)

anyway, Daddy and Mummy brought me to Sentosa on my birthday. Thank God that the weather was really nice. Mummy went to get the corporate card from her coy the day before. actually she can save the effort as the entrance fee to the island is only $1 and the cards cannot be used at Underwater World. I was excited.

I saw the stingray at the Touch Pool. they are soo cute! I wanted to touch them, but Daddy said cannot. he said wait till I'm a bit older. then they brought me down to see all other fishes. they are so scary. why aren't they like those at Granny's place, small and cute?? those at Underwater World are so HUGE and UGLY. I don't like them. I cling onto Daddy tightly. Daddy then explained that they are probably not so big, they are being magnified. but still they are UGLY.

we had our lunch at the food court next to it. Daddy complained that the food is so expensive (as expected, to earn the tourists' $$.) $10 for a plate of fish and chips, $10 for a plate of chicken chop rice. Mummy said she should had told Ivy to cook more of my porridge for Daddy and herself. silly Mummy.

after that, we headed for the Dolphin Lagoon (which is included in the $19.90 per pax ticket, free for me tho). we drove there, but don't seem to be able to get there, cuz Mummy don't know how to read the Sentosa map. don't get me wrong, Mummy is usually good at reading map. the Sentosa map is too cartoon le. so we parked our car at the carpark between Siloso Beach and Palawan Beach. I was totally knocked out then. then Daddy realised the walk to the lagoon is 15 min. hoho.. so they decided to take a bus there and realised that there is a carpark!! and that is the one that they usually parked when they go sun-tanning during their courtship days. silly and forgetful parents.

for the Dolphin show, I'm only interested for a while. the mynahs jumping behind me are more interesting. then we took the bus back to the carpark. it was my first time on the bus. the earlier on bus trip, i slept my way through. didn't know that it's more interesting to ride on the bus than in Daddy's car. more faces for me to look at. :D

it is indeed a Happy yet tiring day for all of us.

all about Lil Darling

one more week, my Lil Darling will be 1 year old! how excited!!!

as mentioned, we'll be celebrating tomorrow.

Lil Darling had already received some prezzies. Thank you Auntie Wendy, Auntie Joey, Lydia Jey and Lil Darling's beloved Grandma.

I chose the present from Wendy and Joey myself. I wanted to get Lil Darling a bigger sized shoes. So we went to United Sq to choose during lunch last week. had a hard time choosing. yes, I'm choosy. I wanted them to be a little hard sole, pretty and lady-like. when we told one of the sales girls that we're are trying to get a pair of shoes for present, she told us that it is not lucky to buy shoes as present. she was trying to make us buy the more expensive dresses. so I told her the birthday girl's mother do not mind. hoho... anyway, we settled on a pair of shoes from the first shop we went.

however Wendy and Joey demanded Lil Darling to give them 10 cents each cuz they scared Lil Darling will run away from them (some chinese saying). I told Joey that Lil Darling still can't walk properly so should not be an issue. but still they wanted. so I gave them 2 10 cents which Lil Darling had touched before. hoho... anyway, Lil Darling had been eye-ing the wrapped box and figuring out what is inside. I wanted her to open on 19 April herself.

Lydia bought her a drawing pad. You're so shweeet... however, I'm quite paiseh when she passed me the prezzie the day after I showed her the post about presents for Lil Darling are still welcomed. anyhow, THANK YOU!! Lil Darling had opened it the next day. hoho.. how impatient.

Grandma bought her a leapfrog pad and a potty thing (not really a potty. it's a potty-like thing to put on top of the toilet bowl for her to poo poo. aiya, dunno how to explain). Lil Darling had started to play with the leapfrog pad though. however, her attention span is real short and she is only interested on pressing the on/off button and flipping the pages. maybe I'll go get some more cartridge for the leapfrog pad.

oh yes, we bought Lil Darling one Barney VCD with the storyline on imagination. I've heard how babies/toddlers so glued to this purple dinosaur. so we thought maybe this dino will make Lil Darling sit still for a long time. BUT WE ARE WRONG!!! she is only interested on the part where it shows some dolphins. after that she'll want walk around the house and dig out all the toys from the toy box. haiz...

her 2nd upper incisor is coming out!! but still no sign of the 2nd lower incisor and the 1st one still only 10 % out. funny little girl.

woo... quite a long post ya. but still... no pictures!! bleah. coming up soon when I got time to upload.

A wonderous kiss

on a normal Sunday afternoon, after Lil Darling's tea-time, I was playing with her in her play-yard.

then she suddenly stopped whatever she was doing and stood up.

she turned and started to walk towards me with her arms stretch.

then she hugged me and at the same time planted a kiss on my lips.

TELL ME TELL ME, HOW CAN I NOT LOVE HER MORE??

Lydia said the chocolate is for Lil Ariel. so I brought it home and gave it to her. guess she still don't know how to eat, so it ended up in Mummy's tummy. hoho...

Lil Darling's first birthday is coming. we'll be celebrating with Grandpa, Grandma, Daddy Sam, Mummy Celeste and Ivy (our new domestic helper) on 13 April. cuz Grandpa is flying on the actual day. :( Grandma said she ordered a durian cake. I decided to cook mee sua with a drumstick and 2 eggs for her. don't know the significant but a lot of mummies are doing that. Yummy!!! *drool*

note: presents for Lil Darling are still welcomed though there is no BIG BASH. :D
