1st attempt on Bento Set

A bento lunch is a compact, balanced, visually appealing meal packed in a box. Historically, it’s a Japanese box lunch, similar in concept to the Indian tiffin, the Korean dosirak, or the Filipino baon lunch. In Japanese, “bento” or “obento” refers to the packed meal, and “bento-bako” refers to the bento box itself. - adapted from Lunch in a Box

of course I'm not so skillful to make those too-cute-to-eat kind of Bento and it was a last minute kind of urge to make one for Lil Ariel after reading one of the Mummy's blog. I do not have the right kind of bento box too, so I used the Zojirushi thermal container. I will try to pay Daiso a visit to get the equipments.

I woke up at 6.30am today to prepare!! the silly Lil Ariel was up at that time too. she said "No no" when I tried to sneak out of the room. I had to tell her that I'm going outside to get rid of the witch.

anyway, the contents of the Bento set were Tempura Codfish, Grilled Asparagus and Grilled Chicken with BBQ sauce (did not put too much sauce in case it is too salty). the result was not too bad, except that the asparagus were a bit over-cooked cuz I was busy ransacking the fridge for lettuce.

and TADA!!!

I made Lil Ariel say "WAH!!!!" when I was removing the cover and she gladly obliged. well, she ate all except the asparagus. oh, she had spiral pasta to go with this.

will find a chance for a 2nd attempt. :D
